Ottoman Empire Qalamdan. Nineteenth Century.
The Qalamdan, a pen box with attached ink well, was used by various Official levels of Government. It was often carried to indicate Office and status. This fine brass example is profusely decorated with fauna and flora and is pleasingly tactile.
This fine qalamdan is 24cm long, 6cm deep and stands 4.5cm high. (Measurements approximate). It is in excellent condition, showing only light wear appropriate to its age and function. It has no damage and no restoration.
