Mid nineteenth century Palais Royal aide memoir.
This exceptional example of carved mother of pearl was made in the Palais Royal district of Paris in the mid nineteenth century. The front panel shows relief carved amaryllis, the back having etched floral decoration. The leaves within the aide memoir are of ivory and the item is held closed by an etched gilt metal clasp. This fine aide memoir has survived in superb condition though the ivory leaves still hold some evidence of use.
This rare and beautiful mother of pearl aide memoir is 8cm long, 4.5cm wide and 0.75cm thick. (Measurements approximate). It shows wear appropriate to its age and substance. It has no damage and no restoration.
