Mid-late nineteenth century bronze. French bulldog.
This charming bronze was made in Austria in about 1870. It has a fine patination and the modelling and casting are of superb quality. It is sadly unsigned, but the workmanship would suggest it was made by one of the finer foundries of the period. It is likely that it was made either as a desk ornament, or paperweight. It stands on its original marble base.
This delightful bronze stands 9cm high (including the base). It is 8cm wide and 5cm deep. (Measurements approximate). It is in excellent condition, showing wear appropriate to its age. It has no damage and no restoration.
