Late nineteenth century stone and silver gilt seal. c. 1890.
This delightful little desk seal is likely to have been part of a ladies desk equipment. The stone is of a delicate purple red colouring, I have as yet been unable to identify precisely what it is, the collar and matrix are of silver gilt, the decoration on the same being of a light foliate form. The matrix is blank, offering the opportunity for general use, or to have it engraved with the new owners initials.
This charming seal is just 5cm high and 1.1cm at its widest point. (Measurements approximate). It is in excellent condition, bearing only light wear that would be expected from its age and substance. It has no damage and no restoration.
