Eighteenth century Scottish Provincial Agate Snuff box.
This superb example was fashioned in one of the Scottish Provinces towards the end of the eighteenth century and is typical of the work of the region and period. Altough unmarked, which is not uncommon, the metal has been tested and is guaranteed. Both the top and base of the box are of fine quality translucent agate. The box has a cased hinge and the original gilded interior.
This fine eighteenth century snuff box measures 7.5cm by 6cm and is 2.5cm high. (Measurements approximate). It is in excellent condition, showing minor wear appropriate to its age. It has no damage and no restoration.
