Description

Early nineteenth century Mother of Pearl cased perfume bottle. c. 1800.

This fine mother of pearl cased perfume bottle was produced in the early part of the nineteenth century. Its form follows that of the snuff boxes and patch boxes of the period, the pearl being finely engraved and, in this case, hightened with black to show the design. The bottle within is plain, standard glass with its original ground glass stopper. This item would have stood on a ladies dressing table, but was just as likely to be used when travelling.

This delightful early nineteenth century mother of pearl perfume box stands 8cm high and is 4.75cm wide. (Measurements approximate). It is in excellent condition, showing only wear appropriate to its age and substance. It has no damage and no restoration.
