Carved agate 18ct. gold mounted card case.

This beautiful and extremely high quality card case is carved from a single piece of dark banded agate, all the mounts being made of 18ct. gold. It was pobably made between 1890 and 1920 and would certainly have been sold by a retailer of some importance. It has survived in excellent condition, though sadly there is little further information on its origin, the mounts simply bearing the ‘750’ standard mark for the gold.

This outstanding carved agate and 18ct. gold card case is 8.5cm from top to bottom, 5.25cm wide and 1.25cm thick. (Measurements approximate). It is in excellent condition, showing wear appropriate to its age. It has no damage and no restoration.
